Spring Time In The Fall

Emily's class has been learning about the 4 seasons.  After their Fall Fun morning on Halloween they had some fun celebrating all 4 seasons in the afternoon.  The children were each assigned a season.  They made a symbol for their season and they were asked to bring clothes to change into for their season.  Emily's season was Spring.  She made a bird's nest with eggs for her symbol and she wore a strawberry dress.  They did a season parade.

They recited poems the class wrote for each season.

Each child shared some Haiku poetry that they wrote and illustrated for their season with the parents and their 5th grade reading buddies.

This is some of the haikus she wrote.  She did a great job with the 5, 7, 5 syllable pattern.

Spring Time
Birds hatch out of eggs.
Yummy strawberry pie mmm!
We get more time too!

Spring
Spring is very fun.
I have a great time in spring.
Baby birds are born.

Outside in Spring
Play outside in spring.
Green leaves grow back on the trees.
Days get longer too!

Here is Emily showing off her spring outfit, symbol and poem.

Emily's teachers asked me to coordinate a "four seasons snack".  They wanted one or two foods for each season.  This snack was for Emily's class and their 5th grade reading buddies.  I had a lot of fun doing this snack and the kids seemed to really enjoy it!  The menu:  Fall:pumpkin muffins, apples/ Winter: marshmallow snowmen/ Spring: strawberries/ Summer: blueberries and lemonade.
