Emily's class had an end of the year cookout at school. They had a bounce house and hot dogs.
In this picture Emily is waiting for her turn to jump.
There was lots of time spent playing on the playground.
Then they circled up for the blessing. They sang the "Jazzy Blessing" which is super cute and Emily's favorite.
Then it was time to eat.

May Day Brunch
Well, better late than never. Since May is almost over I thought I should finally post this picture.
We went to an annual May Day brunch at a friend's house. If we lined these children up according to age they would look like stair steps (ages 2-6). We had a fun morning!

Emily's Dance Recital
Sunday Emily had her "Big Show" at the Little Gym. Emily was so excited to get ready. She got to wear a little blush and lip gloss, body glitter gel and glitter hair spray. She looked beautiful and did a great job. They had the option to buy a tutu (3 colors to choose from) and the moms decided that we would all wear black leotards to be more uniform. One little girl stepped outside the box and did her own thing which was fine, it is very casual at these Big Shows and the girls are encouraged to dress however they want to dress. They were all adorable and they did a great job. They did tap, ballet and then a beam and bar routine. We were so proud of Emily. She was fabulous!
At the end they had an awards ceremony. Everyone got a ribbon!
Flowers from Mommy and Daddy.
Here is Emily with her teachers.
It's hard to believe that Emily was only 22 months old when she started classes at The Little Gym. She took a summer class and then had her 2nd birthday party there and then we continued from there. We have loved every minute of our time at The Little Gym.
Here is a VIDEO if you want to see some of their dances!!!

Swim Lessons
Emily took group swim lessons last year and enjoyed them but she never seemed to make much progress. She doesn't like to get her face wet and is afraid of going under. In a 30 minute group class there is a lot of time spent sitting on the side of the pool waiting and I think she would watch and think about things too much and she would be afraid to try the next skill.
This summer we decided to try private lessons. Emily was a little nervous but once she met her teacher, Ms. Christina, she was in heaven. She is doing great and is building trust with her teacher which is really important. She also gets a lollipop at the end of class! She anticipates swim lessons all week! Seriously, she asks me everyday how many more days until she goes again. Here she is with her new goggles.

They each brought in a bag of their favorite cereal and they put it all in a big bowl to mix up and eat for snack. Emily brought Chocolate Cheerios!

Mother's Day 2012
My Mother's Day was lovely. Both Jeff and Emily were so sweet to me on Sunday. Emily wished me Happy Mother's Day over and over. She gave me lots of hugs and kisses too. She really wanted to bring me coffee in bed on Sunday morning but Jeff explained that he left really early on Sunday morning for work and we would still be sleeping. She still really wanted to do it so I helped her put the K cup in and push the correct buttons to make my coffee. We made the coffee in a travel mug so she could carry it into me. She was so sweet and really seemed to understand the day and she wanted to make it special!
Here is the gift Emily made for me at school.
It was summer berry sugar scrub. Emily said, "It's to make your body smooth." It's really good stuff. She chose the scent and helped stir it. She chose summer berry over sweet pea because it is almost summer:)
This is the certificate she made at church for me.
I am blessed to be Emily's mommy!

Chopsticks
The other night we went to dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. We went to a Japanese Steak house which is one of our favorite places to eat. Normally when Emily asks for chopsticks they are quickly torn apart and used as drum sticks and sometimes weapons. This time was different. She just picked them up and started eating her shrimp (which she usually doesn't eat) with them and continued to eat much of her dinner with them. She is really growing! This picture was snapped quickly with my cell phone. By the way, as you can see, she still brings her sunglasses to protect herself from the fire:) I love my girl!

The Strawberry Farm
Thursday, late afternoon, we headed to a local strawberry farm. Emily really enjoyed ridding on a tractor up to the field where we were picking. Emily was a champion picker this year.
Of course she had to sample a few strawberries for quality control.
Two buckets full of yummy strawberries! Then it we got to ride the tractor back and have some ice cream.
The thing I really like about this farm is that it's not just strawberry picking. They have animals too. They have goats, chickens, pigs, honey bees and a cow. Here's Emily feeding the goats. She was really afraid to do this but she kept trying and finally did it.
We got to pet the most adorable baby goats.
Then they had a swing which made Emily very happy. What a fun afternoon at the strawberry farm!

Princess Beauty Kit
A friend gave us a Sleeping Beauty Make-up kit that her daughter never used and is now too old for. Emily was so excited and she happened to already have on a princess dress when she received it. She had a blast putting make-up and sparkles ALL over her face. She was very fancy!!!
