What A Difference A Year Makes

This is our third summer getting season passes to the water park.  Emily has always enjoyed going to the water park but she has never wanted to do the slides or splash or do anything that might get water in her face.  This year she is a different child.  She begs to do the slides and she is always splashing water.  She wants to go to the water park everyday!  I think the private swim lessons are helping too.  She is also growing up!

Art Camp

Emily had her very first camp of the summer early in June.  It is her favorite camp to attend...art camp.  She had a blast and can't wait to go back in July.

One of her favorite activities, pictured above, was creating art with recycled materials.  She brought home lots of cool stuff.

This camp was an art camp that partnered with Kindermusik.  The theme of the week was Treasure Troves and Pirate Coves.  They made this pirate ship along with pirate hats, flags and spyglasses.  They did a few songs for the parents on the last day.

My Assistant's Last Day

I am a stay at home mom who works part time (10-15 hours a week).  I coordinate the childcare for two women's ministry events at our church. A big part of my job is staffing, dealing with policies and procedures, setting up class rosters etc. so I am able to work a lot from home.  I have to go on campus to set up for the childcare events and I have to be there to oversee the events which is usually around six weekday, morning meetings a month.  The meetings are only during the school year.

I wasn't looking to work at all until Emily started kindergarten but the summer that Emily turned two (2009) I was offered this position.  I really didn't want it at the time. I took some time to think and pray about it and I knew it would be perfect for me when Emily was in school so I took it and I'm so glad I did.
It has been an unexpected blessing!  The first year was the hardest as I learned what I was doing, with a two year old in tow, but I feel it is a ministry I have been called to and I just finished my third school year!

Emily was able to go with me and be a part of a classroom.  She started right after she turned two.  She has been my little assistant, she even calls herself that.  She helped  me "open" the classrooms, start the coffee, hand out the radios and she greet the teachers and some of the children at the door before going to her classroom.  Emily has always enjoyed childcare and hanging out at the church in general.  She usually gets to see her dad too because he works there as well.  May 31st was her last day of childcare.  I can't believe she won't be with me next year!  Here she is with Ms. Robin and Mr. Kevin who have been her wonderful teachers for two years.  She had two other fantastic teachers along the way, Ms. Debby and Ms. Marsha.

This has been a great experience for Emily.  I know she will miss it next year and I sure will miss my assistant!

Preschool Graduation

May 24th, Emily graduated from preschool.  They did the graduation ceremony and end of the year program in the morning of the last school day.  They began with the graduation ceremony and breakfast for the graduates and their families.

Then they had a musical program with all the children in the preschool.  It was so adorable.  Here are a few pictures.

The first picture is of a wardrobe malfunction that Emily had before the program began.  I love this because this happens all the time.

Then the program began.

I love the hats.  Emily has such a small head and it cracks me up because the hat was down over her eyes for much of the song.

Here is Emily with her wonderful teachers Ms. Tara and Ms. Stacy.

She got flowers from a family friend and some other gifts from us.

Emily and our friend Erin.

A family photo.

We are so proud of our little graduate and excited for what's ahead!

If you are interested, here is a video of some highlights from graduation and the program.
