Last Day of Kindergarten
I'm really not sure where this school year has gone. I can't believe Emily is finished with kindergarten. She has been out for two weeks but I am just now getting a chance to blog about it.
Here are first day and last day of kindergarten pictures. Look how much she has grown!
I can honestly say that Emily's kindergarten year was better than I ever dreamed it would be. She has had the most amazing team of teachers EVER! Emily is one of the youngest if not the youngest in her class. We felt like she was ready for kindergarten but also concerned about how young she was. I have to say that I think we made the right decision. At first, she struggled with reading and handwriting. Her handwriting is still a challenge but she has improved greatly. I have never had good handwriting so I think some of that she gets naturally. Her reading is fabulous now and she has exceeded the expectations for her grade level. Math is her favorite subject. Emily has done wonderfully socially and emotionally this year. We are so proud. We are also excited that Emily will be in the same class for one more year. She is in a k-1 combination class so she will loop and stay with the same teachers in first grade. Woo Hoo!
Emily's class was supposed to go to a park on the last day of school but it rained all day so they ended up staying at school and playing games and stuff. I stayed the whole day and hung out. Here are some last day pictures.
Last partner reading of the year.
Emily wanted to celebrate her summer birthday at school so we brought special treat for the last day. The birthday friend goes to the middle of the circle and they pick children to be human candles. Emily had seven because she will be six and then she had one to grow on. They sing "Happy Birthday" and then she has to blow each candle out. She had lots of fun.
Here are pictures of some of Emily's amazing teachers.

Ms. Mannino again.
When Emily came home her friends were waiting with a sign and a bag of new summer books from me and Jeff.
Jeff also gave her flowers.
She came home with some extra math pages to do other the summer. She wasted no time getting started. We kept telling her that she had all summer but she was begging to do her work. We are very proud and so thankful that she was able to start school off in such a positive way. She loves school and she loves to learn. Who could ask for more out of kindergarten!

Kindergarten Bible Presentation
Our church presents Bibles to the kindergarten children at the end of their kindergarten year. They do this because most children learn to read in kindergarten so they can start reading the Bible on their own. Emily was very excited to receive her own Bible. She has lots of little toddler Bibles and Bible story books but this is her first Bible with all the verses, as she says.
Here she is before the ceremony started.
Our church has A LOT of kindergarten children so they called their names quickly. The children came up and got their Bible from our children's director and then they went down the line to get a hug, high five, or hand shake from each of the wonderful kindergarten volunteers.
After they all received their Bibles they recited a verse and sang some songs.
They did a great job and Emily was so proud of her Bible.
These are two of Emily's wonderful Sunday school teachers.
These two are married and were also Emily's teachers in the crawler room. They are amazing and Emily LOVES them!
Family picture.
This wonderful lady is our Senior Pastor's wife. She is so sweet! One of her granddaughters is in kindergarten too. This wonderful lady sends Emily cards and sweet notes all the time. She is so dear to us and I just had to get a picture of her and Emily together.
Emily has read some verses from her Bible each night since she received it. She is very proud of it!

End Of The Year Violin Recital
Last Thursday, Emily had her last violin recital for the year. She did an amazing job! We were so proud of her! It still amazes me what these K-1 students can do. Here are a few pictures.
We had some friends come to watch. Here she is with her good three year old friend before the recital began. By the way, this three year old was so good during this recital...such a good audience member!
This is officially one of my favorite pictures!

It was a wonderful evening. We are so proud of our beautiful girl!

Happy Memorial Day
On Memorial Day we headed to a local park with a playground and lots of fun rides.
Emily with her ticket to ride the train.
On the train....
They had a great old Carousel. Emily rode it over and over and then we sat on one of the benches in front of it and watched it while we ate. Then we rode it again, then she had Dippin Dots and then she rode it again! She even worked up the courage to ride it alone.
Then Jeff cooked out on the grill at the house. We had a fun day!
Memorial Day Weekend
The Friday of Memorial Day weekend we picked Emily up early from school, after a morning full of Field Day activities, and drove to Pigeon Forge, TN. This is what happens when you go for a long drive after Field Day.
Jeff was going to work a show and we were invited to go along and have some fun.
Saturday morning, I headed to a fun place with Emily and her friend who was on the trip too. We went to a place with some fun rides for little kids. The girls had a blast and the weather was perfect.
Then we went to lunch.
After lunch we spent some time at the pools (indoor and outdoor). It was a little cold but they loved it!
The event had a children's portion at the beginning with games, play areas and face painting. The girls had fun!
There was even a precious three week old on the trip. This is what she did for most of her visit to TN.
Sunday morning we headed home. It was a quick trip and Jeff worked the whole time. Next time we go back we want to explore more of the area. We did see some cool stuff that we had to take a picture of on our way out of town.
Emily was so excited about this "castle".
