Fun Friday

This week for Fun Friday we took a trip to the mall.  We saw the Easter Bunny, ate ice cream, played on the playground and chose Emily's Easter dress.

I just love this picture!  So precious!

The International Civil Rights Museum

In February, Emily's class went on a field trip to the International Civil Rights Museum.  I was able to go with them on this fun trip.  This is located where the famous Greensboro Four sat a the lunch counter at Woolworth asking to be served.

The children were able to walk where these men's footprints were...Emily jumped!

We learned a lot and go to see the actual lunch counter where it all began.  No pictures were allowed inside the museum but we did get a group photo at the end of the tour.

After our tour we walked across the street to Fincastles for ice cream. Yummy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

We had some leprechauns visit us on Saturday night.  This is what Emily found when she woke up Sunday morning.

Also, her orange juice was green.

It was a fun and very green day!

When It Felt Like Spring

Wednesday was the first day of spring but it feels like winter around here right now.  However, Saturday, was a warm and beautiful day.  Emily played outside for most of the day with her seven year old neighborhood friend.  She started by playing in the culdesac just down the street from us where her friend lives.  They had lots of fun and then moved to her friend's back yard.  Then they moved to our backyard and eventually ended up playing in Emily's room.  Then we grilled out for dinner.  It was a lovely taste of early spring.

My Little Dancing Duck

Emily has dance class several times a week at her school.  Last week they had a performance.  The show was the Ugly Little Duckling.  Emily was one of the baby ducks.  It was very cute!  Here are some pictures.  We were on the front way but we were still very far away and the kids were moving really fast so the pictures aren't the greatest.

Here is my baby duck practicing at home before the show.

Here they are in their places ready to begin.

She did a great job!  They all did!

Life After Disney

Life has been a bit crazy since we returned from Disney. Reality hit hard when we returned.  Jeff has been working really long hours and  Emily and I were sick for awhile.  Emily had an ear infection.  They  put her on amoxicillin which created some side effect.  The biggest thing was it made it very difficult for Emily to sleep.  She was waking up all night, heart racing, scared to death!  She would literally wake up every 30 minutes to every hour.  It was terrible!!!  Finally, I figured out it was the medicine and stopped giving it to her.  This was day 8 of the antibiotic. She is doing much better since going off the medicine but we seemed to have formed some bad patterns.

For a while I was sleeping in Emily's room with her.  This helped at first and then it seemed to make things worse. One night Jeff had the idea to let Barney sleep in Emily's room.   This has worked great.  I put her to bed and lie down with her until she goes to sleep. She usually sleeps until at least midnight.  When she gets up to go to the bathroom or because of a bad dream, she asks for her BFF.  That is Barney! We move his bed in her room and everyone is happy.   Well, I'm not sure that Barney is always happy but he tolerates it.

Also, I got rear ended and the driver took off. His car was really messed up but somehow he backed it up and took off down a side street before anyone could get a license number.

Now 6 days later and a $500 dollar deductible later, my car is fixed and back home again.  Yes, she is old but she is paid for (thanks Dad).  I will be driving her as long as I can!

Hopefully, that's all the craziness for awhile.

Happy Birthday To You

Yesterday, March 6th, my mom would have been 66 years old.  That is so crazy to me.  We always celebrate Gran's birthday.  I think it is a good way to make her a part of Emily's life, even though Emily was never able to meet her.  First Emily "played" Happy Birthday to her on the keyboard.

Then it was we had some yummy cupcakes.

Happy Birthday, Gran!
