Lazy Five Ranch

Two Saturdays ago we traveled to Lazy Five Ranch.  We had not been in years.  It is such a great place to see animals up close and personal.  It already felt like fall.  It was a beautiful day!

The camels were my favorite part.  They kept opening their mouths for you to throw the food in.  They were so fun to watch.

We had a wonderful day enjoying the beautiful weather and the amazing animals!  I love visiting this ranch because the animals seem so happy and they have so much space to roam free.  You can't beat the up close experience!

Pirate Day

Apparently, today is National Talk Like A Pirate Day.  Who knew? Krispy Kreme is giving away a dozen doughnuts to anyone who dresses like a pirate. Pretty cool huh? Once I realized this today I called Jeff at work and threw the few pirate things we have in the car.  After school we picked Jeff up from work and headed over the Krispy Kreme.  It was busy but lots of fun.  We got to watch them make the doughnuts while we waited in line.  Arrrr!

PTA Bulletin Board Picture

This year I am serving as PTA secretary and hospitality chair at school this year.  It is keeping me busy but I love being involved in Emily's school.  We were asked to provide a picture, in our "spirit wear" for the PTA bulletin board at school.  We all took our pictures with our children.  Here is mine.

Dance Class

Last year we didn't do any afterschool activities.  Emily gets art, music, dance and violin at school and we wanted to give her a year to adjust to school before doing afterschool activities.  This year she wanted to take a dance class outside of school.  We agreed and she chose Tap and Hip hop.

Her class is downtown, in the same building as Art Quest.  We go straight from school to Art Quest and then we head to her dance class.  She loves having 45 minutes each week to play at Art Quest.  Dance class started on the first week of school.  So far she is loving it.

Emily's First Day Of First Grade

 August 26, 2013, Emily started the first grade!

She was so excited.  Emily's class is a K-1 so she is in the same class with the same teachers as last year.  Half of the children (the kindergarteners) are new but all of the first graders were in her class last year too.  The first graders are the "helpers" in the class.  Emily couldn't wait!!! 

The other wonderful thing is that we absolutely love her teachers from last year so this is an amazing opportunity to be with them for two years.  She made them cards for the first day.

Our day started very early.  I was in charge of the first day of school breakfast for parents so we had to be at school about 45 minutes early to set up.  Emily woke right up and was ready to go with no problem.  She helped me set up the breakfast before she went to her class.  She was a big help!

Emily requested that I have her "friends" waiting for her when she got home from school.  Here they are...

When Jeff came home from work he brought her flowers to congratulate her on a great first day of first grade!
