Happy Easter!
We had a fun week of Easter activities. We began with Palm Sunday. Emily got to take a palm branch home from church. She was waving it yelling, "Praise the Lord Jesus". Later that day we had her first Easter Egg Hunt of the season which I have already posted about. Here she is with her palm branch.
We did a lot of fun things at home with Easter stuff. We played lots of games with eggs. This was a guessing game. We had eggs filled with things. Every egg had a match (an egg filled with the same thing). For example, two eggs had jelly beans, two eggs had q-tips etc. Emily had to shake them and listen to guess which ones were filled with the same thing. She put them together how she thought they went and them opened them to see if she was right. By the way, she got them all right.
We also had a numbers matching game. She had to put the eggs together by matching the numbers to the correct number of dots.
Then she had to put them in numeric order.
We also put jelly beans in two eggs and she guessed which one had more or which one had less. Then she got to eat jelly beans, her favorite part!
We made some Easter/Spring cookies.
We had another egg hunt with some friends. We played, hunted for eggs, ate pizza and decorated Easter cookies to eat!
Emily got so many Easter surprises this week. She got a Easter basket from her Grandpa, a basket from her Grandma and Grandpa Fran and an Easter basket from her Aba and Nana. Not to mention what the Easter Bunny brought and candy from egg hunts. Seriously, how much candy can one little girl eat? We have to ration it out to her a little at a time. We may have Easter candy left at Halloween:) This is Emily in her bunny sunglasses that were in her basket from Grandma!
On Friday, Emily and I painted eggs.
Because it was Good Friday, we decorated a cross and continued to talk about the reason for Easter.
On Saturday we went to fly kites at a local park. A friend of mine from college organized a "Kite Day". Emily had fun and then got to play on the playground. She even made her own kite.
That evening we dyed Easter Eggs. Jeff is the head of this operation. He does a beautiful job each year.
Here is the finished product. All the eggs we painted and dyed minus the eggs Emily broke in her excitement.
Then it was time to put carrots out for the Easter Bunny.
Emily leaves her eggs for the Easter Bunny to fill and hide. He picks up the basket and eggs while she sleeps and comes back while we are at church to hide the eggs and fill the basket. Jeff has to leave really early on Sunday mornings so Emily gets her basket after church and lunch.
After church we went to lunch with Aba and Nana at Mimi's Cafe.
After lunch it was time to go home and see if the Easter Bunny had come.
Emily looked at her basket and she was ready to hunt for eggs.
It took two baskets to hold all the eggs:)
It was a wonderful week and a beautiful Easter day!
